Self Help & Troubleshooting Section (For Workbooth Versions: 3.X)

Please Review First: Workbooth is a customized version of Linux that has specific security features installed to meet the security needs of our clients. Because of this, no changes can be made to the Workbooth CD's configuration files and no drivers can be installed. If Workbooth is not able to automatically configure itself to your system, there are only two ways to resolve the issue:

  1. Use a cheat code, if one is available
  2. Purchase and/or install additional hardware/equipment

Cannot set PC to Boot to a CD (keeps going to Windows)

This means that your BIOS has not been configured correctly to boot to a CD. [BIOS Instructions]

Even if you had gone into the BIOS to set your computer to Boot to a CD, if Windows is loading instead of Workbooth, then it means something isn't set correctly. The first thing you should do is go back into your BIOS and re-do all of the settings to be sure your PC.

  1. Once you have redone the BIOS settings, put the Workbooth CD in your CD-ROM and restart your machine and try again to boot to Workbooth.
  2. Still doesn't boot? If there are 2 CD/DVD drives, put the CD in the other drive and try booting to Workbooth again. If no 2nd CD/DVD drive, then try your 2nd Workbooth CD.
    • Do you have an Acer and even though you set everything correctly, Workbooth still doesn't boot? If so, this is a known issue with Acer PC's, please contact Acer as this is not something we can resolve.
  3. Still doesn't boot? Try booting to another bootable CD (i.e. Windows CD/DVD, Linux LiveCD).

Error: "Failed to post" When taking the CD Assessment

If you see receive this error when attempting the CD Assessment, it means that either the Hirepoint ID or Email Address you entered was incorrect.

Workbooth stops loading at a Blank or Black screen

This error requires that you restart Workbooth and try and log in with cheat codes first - More Info.

For this error, please try the following cheat codes:

  1. workbooth xforcevesa
  2. fb and/or fbwide
  3. workbooth noagp
  4. failsafe (If failsafe worked, the next step is very intricate. Please use our Support page to contact us.)

"No supported network card found"

If you receive this error at the login screen, it means that the network card that you have installed in your system is not supported by Workbooth. To resolve this issue, do the following:

Purchase a USB-to-Ethernet Adapter - More Info

Screen Resolution is too low (needs to be increased)

To adjust the screen resolution (display size) in Workbooth 3.1.2 and 3.3, you need to use the On-Disk Troubleshooter:

  1. Boot to Workbooth
  2. At the Login Screen, click on the Folder/Stethoscope icon
  3. Click on "User Settings"
  4. Click on "Change screen resolution"
  5. Change the resolution to 1024 x 768 or larger
  6. Click "OK"
  7. Click Cancel a few times until you are back to the Login Screen
  8. Click on the Globe to begin the CD Assessment

Widescreen Monitors: In some cases, the cheat code "fbwide" will also work.
